HESA Services – Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene and Toxicology Services

Health & Safety

HESA develops site specific or generic health and safety plans for hazardous waste cleanup operations as related to ISRA remedial investigations, superfund site assessments, and other hazardous waste site applications. HESA also supervises the implementation of the health and safety plans.

HESA can assist with employee exposure events and coordinate the medical monitoring program required for hazardous waste site operators.

HESA can coordinate and perform employee health and safety training pursuant to the OSHA 40-Hour Hazardous Waste Site Safety Training and the 8-Hour Annual Refresher and Supervisor Training requirements.

Industrial Hygiene Services

HESA's expertise includes the identification, evaluation and control of potentially hazardous materials related to dermal and inhalation exposure. HESA performs indoor air quality sampling/analysis and industrial hygiene monitoring for all chemical or physical agents. Industrial hygiene assessments to verify OSHA permissible exposure limits (PELs) can also be provided.

Toxicology Services

HESA can monitor acute and chronic toxicology studies, coordinate testing requirements and interface with regulatory agencies.

HESA performs qualitative and quantitative health risk assessments as related to environmental and product safety applications. The components of the risk assessment include:

• Summarization of toxicity information from animal studies;
• Summarization of toxicity information from human and epidemiology studies;
• Risk assessment and risk management:
  – hazard identification;
  – dose-response assessment;
  – exposure assessment;
  – risk characterization.
